High Street will reopen to traffic an hour earlier
High Street in Shrewsbury will reopen to traffic – including buses – from 4pm rather than 5pm, with traffic able to travel up Wyle Cop and along High Street and Shoplatch.
Shropshire Council says that the measures have been put in place to support social distancing, to provide a safer environment for people to enjoy a vehicle-free town centre, and to create additional outside space for tables and chairs.

Jonathan Soden from The Soden Collection gallery and Stacey Hill from Oberon in Shrewsbury s High Street, which has bright flags designed by children
The Great Big Art Exhibition is a national project, backed by Angel of the North creator Sir Antony Gormley, encouraging people to create their own pieces of art and display them outside their home.
Shrewsbury Bid decided to take the concept one step further and asked children to create a picture which could be reproduced on flags in the town centre.
