stones shook and some fell. reporter: i walked around and saw more pieces of the mortar that apparently fell during the quake. exports are telling us the netting installing up there should prevent it from being a safety hazard when they finally reopen the cathedral to the public. about a dozen engineers and masonry teams have been crawling the cathedral and leaving no stone unturned in the outer isles of the sanctuary aisles of the sang area where the ceiling are 38 and 35-feet tall. they have literally touched and looked at every piece of the stone work and cataloging area where mortar is missing. reporter: no large stones were found anywhere but they haven t had time to check every each at the top of the vaulted ceilings. that is why the netting is going up. the work on the church is going to cost millions. cathedral is grateful for a contribution from the archdiocese of washington. the catholic archdiocese reached out to our own bishop and support a check story $
