5 300 more vaccine doses for Western Cape, 27 570 health workers have been vaccinated

5 300 more vaccine doses for Western Cape, 27 570 health workers have been vaccinated Share Cape Town - The vaccine rollout in the Western Cape continues to forge ahead with the province receiving 5 300 more doses of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine over the weekend. The vaccine doses, which were supplied through the Sisonke implementation study, is the first delivery of the third tranche with two more deliveries expected this weekend. The Western Cape Health Department said the intent of the vaccination rollout was to prevent severe illness and death and to protect the health system. Healthcare workers are being targeted first during phase 1 to ensure the province is able to vaccinate the most at risk healthcare workers first and guarantee readiness for a third wave.

Kidderminster GP and 'pioneer' for pregnant women has died

Dr Peter John Chaudoir A GP who treated patients and delivered babies across the Wyre Forest district before his retirement has died, aged 88. Dr Peter John Chaudoir came to Kidderminster in 1962 as a junior partner to Dr Dick Harper in Comberton Hill, now Holmwood Care Home. They grew the practice and were delighted to move to the purpose-built, Bromsgrove Street Medical Centre. Peter also ran a satellite surgery in Hartlebury for several years. Peter was a pioneer in the care of pregnant women, introducing pre and anti-natal clinics, always interested in child development and was popular with young patients. He later moved the practice to Stanmore House as a fund holding practitioner.
