Worcester Co. student recognized for being a good influence on classmates

47abc March 17, 2021 WORCESTER CO., Md. – One local school district’s superintendent was able to visit with some students in person and present one with an award for the influence she has on her classmates. On Facebook, Worcester County Public Schools showed pictures of Superintendent Louis Taylor visiting with students at Buckingham Elementary School on Monday. While there, he was able to present Lyric Reynolds with the Superintendent’s Challenge Coin for being a positive influence for herself and those around her. Taylor started giving Challenge Coins in 2019 as a way to recognize the good behavior and actions students perform in the classrooms and in their community. WCPS says they are so proud of Lyric and all she does to be a good student.

From USA TODAY Network and wire reports Alabama Homewood: State regulators have suspended the alcohol license of a Birmingham-area bar over alleged violations of the state’s pandemic health order in what an official described as the first such case under COVID-19 rules. Regulators accused Grocery Brewpub in Homewood of violating rules about face mask requirements, occupancy limits and social distancing, Alabama ABC spokesman Dean Argo told WBMA-TV. The emergency suspension issued Tuesday was Alabama’s first license suspension linked to pandemic health rules, he said. Photos shared recently on social media showed people packed into the nightspot with few face masks visible.
