A Toronto real estate development firm is proposing to build four towers of mainly affordable housing at the corner of Black Creek Drive and Lawrence Avenue West to do what it can about the housing crisis.
The Black Creek and Lawrence project will also reserve units for underserved groups, including Black and Indigenous residents, seniors, veterans and newcomers.
Residents of some TCHC buildings say they've recently learned they're not eligible for a benefit they've collected for years and that they have to pay part of it back. Advocates say it's a huge blow for many low-income residents.
