MSG Wannabe rules Korean music charts

MSG Wannabe, an all-male act that formed on the popular Korean TV show Hangout With Yoo, is going strong on South Korean music charts.
The eight-piece act is far from a typical K-pop band.
The group consists of a comedian, singers and actors ― including two in their 50s and three in their 30s ― and their name MSG Wannabe comes from monosodium glutamate (MSG), which is often derided here for being a junk food ingredient but making food flavorful.
Nonetheless, the project group that formed through a series of auditions hosted by the fictional character Yooyaho played by top comedian Yoo Jae-suk is the latest sensation on domestic music charts.

Refund Sister is a four-member project girl group that was formed through MBC s Hangout with Yoo. The group is composed of Uhm Jung Hwa, MAMAMOO s Hwasa, Jessi, and Lee Hyori.

SECRET NUMBER is a five-member girl group under VINE Entertainment that debuted on May 19, 2020. The group made headlines for having the first Indonesian female K-pop idol and two former YG Entertainment trainees.

SSAK3 is a project co-ed trio that was formed through MBC s Hangout With Yoo. The group debuted on July 25, 2020, and is composed of Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Hyori, and Rain.

STAYC is a six-member girl group under High Up Entertainment. They are the first girl group formed by producer duo Black Eyed Pilseung. They debuted on November 12, 2020.
