Heartland businesses, churches survive 2020

Heartland businesses, churches survive 2020 Heartland businesses, churches survive 2020 By Noelle Williams | December 31, 2020 at 8:39 PM CST - Updated December 31 at 10:13 PM CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - This has been a tough year for businesses and churches, but some have managed to survive 2020 and are looking forward to positive changes in 2021. “It’s been a challenging year and everyone has done the best we could” said Robert Gentry, co-owner of the Corner Grocery Store in Cape Girardeau. Robert and his wife and co-owner, Mary, said community support is the reason they are surviving the pandemic. “We’ve been here for 14 years and we’ve noticed the local shoppers recognizing the need to support small business, downtown business, just business in general,” said Gentry. “This has been a really interesting year; I don’t think anybody anticipated a pandemic for 2020.”
