Based on the number of projects already completed, in production or expected to film in the Wilmington area in the coming months, 2021 will be no doubt be remembered as an up year. In fact, Wilmington s film industry could see its highest level of activity in nearly a decade or more. Four film or TV projects have already wrapped this year. Netflix film Along for the Ride started shooting last week, and TV series George and Tammy is in pre-production.

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. –– A Netflix feature film set in a “charming beach town” is slated to start rolling Wednesday in Carolina Beach, according to a film permit application Port City Daily obtained. The production is also planning to shoot scenes in Kure Beach, Wilmington and Oak Island through early June.
