Tibet URGENCE CLIMATIQUE : Echange entre le Dalaï Lama et Greta Thunberg, ce 10 janvier à 04h30 am

Join us for a free livestream event on  January 9, 2021 at 10:30 p.m. EST (January 10, 2021, 9:00 a.m. IST) on the crisis of climate feedback loops, featuring clips from the new short film series “Climate Emergency: Feedback Loops”. From the destruction of forests to the thawing of permafrost, the effects of human-induced climate change have set into motion self-perpetuating feedback loops that are accelerating global warming. What can be done to slow down this threat before it’s too late? The Mind & Life Institute is honored to host a special free livestream event with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, climate activist Greta Thunberg, and leading scientists to explore steps for addressing this urgent set of challenges.

One year after declaring Climate Emergency, scientists say Massive-Scale Mobilization necessary

Scientists’ renewed call for bold climate policies came just days after a new study in the journal  Nature Climate Change warned existing carbon pollution will cause global temperatures to rise about 2.3 degrees Celsius or 4.1 degrees Fahrenheit above pre-industrial levels with devastating consequences worldwide. As  Common Dreams reported last year, William Ripple, distinguished professor of ecology in OSU’s College of Forestry, and postdoctoral scholar Christopher Wolf co-authored a paper in  BioScience. Backed by thousands of scientists, they wrote that greenhouse gas missions “are still rapidly rising, with increasingly damaging effects on the Earth’s climate” and “an immense increase of scale in endeavors to conserve our biosphere is needed to avoid untold suffering due to the climate crisis.”
