In the first Genesis, woman (Eve) is taken out of man (Adam); in the second Genesis, man (Jesus) is taken out of woman (Mary). Whereas Eve was the crown of creation and “mother all the living” (Gen. 3:20), that privilege is now claimed by Jesus, as all Christians, whether male or female, are re-born through him. Jesus is thus the new Eve, reversing gender roles in Genesis.
