An ex-Georgia deputy bragged about having illegal weapons in an extremist group chat.
Authorities said Cody Richard Griggers bragged about beating up a Black man during an arrest.
Griggers faces 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of possession of an unregistered firearm.
A former Georgia sheriff s deputy gloated in an extremist group chat that he had illegal weapons and that he beat the s - out of a Black man during an arrest, adding that it was a sweet stress relief, according to media reports and court documents.
A violent extremist s phone records have led to the discovery of a group chat that included racial epithets and threats from a law enforcement officer.
In court documents, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that Griggers boasted about beating a Black man during an arrest, threatened to falsely charge Black people with felonies so that they could not vote and advocated for killing politicians and others he viewed as political enemies.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Justice released a statement about the case involving Griggers. The 28-year-old, who has been terminated from the Wilkinson County Sheriff s Office several months ago, entered a guilty plea on a weapons charge after federal agents confirmed his ties to violent extremists.

A former Georgia Deputy has pleaded guilty to possessing unregistered firearms after the FBI launched an investigation into an extremist group. FBI agents discovered 28-year-old Cody Richard Griggers wrote in a group text that he manufactured and acquired illegal firearms and also expressed views that were consistent with racially motivated violent extremism.
Members in the group text, who called themselves Shadow Moses or Shadmo, texted about militia-type prepping, including lengthy discussions of weapons, combat gear and survivalist techniques, according to court documents.

Washington Post report and CBS News, 28-year-old Cody Richard Griggers, a former Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Deputy, has pleaded guilty for possessing unregistered guns following an FBI investigation of a California-based white extremist group called “Shadow Moses.” According to CBS News, FBI agents found that Griggers “used racial and homophobic slurs” as he “wrote in a group text that he manufactured and acquired illegal firearms and also expressed views that were consistent with racially motivated violent extremism.”
