Leadership Texarkana Leadership Texarkana is requesting nominations from the community for the organization’s Wilbur Awards for exemplary community leadership. The Wilbur Awards are presented annually to individuals, organizations, and student leaders who epitomize the power of one entity or individual to positively impact our community or region as models of effective leadership by leading the way in working together for excellence, pride and progress for our community. Named in memory of Wilbur Smith, anyone in our area is eligible to nominate - or to be awarded a Wilbur Award. Strong nominees will have a history of leading the way on matters that matter in our community, collaborating with natural partners to build strong partnerships. Benson From time to time, the board of governors of the Religion Communicators Council (RCC) confers a special Wilbur Award to a person or organization whose body of work makes a substantial and unique contribution to public discourse on religious faith and values or interfaith dialogue and understanding. As a master storyteller who sees the image of God in every person, Dennis C. Benson has interviewed more than 15,000 people from Alice Cooper and Fred Rodgers to ordinary people for radio and TV – over a span of six decades. In the process, he inspires other people of faith to do the same.

NEW YORK The Religion Communicators Council (RCC) is accepting entries for the 2021 Wilbur Awards. Secular communicators have until February 8, 2021 to submit work produced during 2020 for consideration in one of the oldest recognition programs in religion communication. The council has presented Wilbur Awards annually since 1949. They honor excellence by individuals in secular media – print and online journalism, book publishing, blogs, radio, podcasts and television, plus motion pictures – in communicating religious issues, positive values, and themes. Winners in 2020 represented CBS News, The Associated Press, Al Jazeera English, CBC Radio, and several creative independent contributors, motion picture producers, bloggers, and journalists.
