Daughters of the American Revolution honors four local students

The Colonel Thomas Lothrop Old Colony Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored four students at the chapter’s 2021 Good Citizens award ceremony via Zoom March 7.
Each student was nominated by the staff and faculty of their high schools and wrote an essay on the topic, “How do the combined actions of so many keep our nation moving forward?”
Honorees included Alyssa McInnis from Weymouth High School, Siobhan Burke from Hull High School, Quinn Walsh from Cohasset High School, and Savannah Murphy from Whitman Hanson Regional High School.
WHITMAN Over the past year, Lisa Miller has gotten used to pulling into the driveway of her Whitman home and finding three or four large trash bags of bottles and cans waiting for her by the front door.
The bags of recyclables are often left anonymously, and can sometimes appear as frequently as four or five times a week.
The deliveries are not for Miller, but rather for her 19-year-old son, Riley. A 2020 graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, in his free time he works to raise money for both the school and its “Best Buddies” program, with which he’s been involved for the last four years.
