The Manitoba Wildfire Service is putting a number of restrictions in place across southern and eastern Manitoba due to a high risk of wildfire.

On Thursday, fire crews worked to put out a brush fire that forced the evacuation of some homes near Camp Hughes, west of Carberry, Man. The province issued restrictions in response to the increased risk of wildfire on Saturday.(Submitted by Liam Pattison)

Extremely dry conditions have prompted the Manitoba Wildfire Service to implement fire restrictions across much of the southwest and eastern regions of the province.
Level two travel restrictions will immediately be taking effect. This includes:
motorized backcountry travel, including ATVs and other off-road vehicles, is prohibited unless under the authority of a travel permit;
camping is restricted to developed campgrounds;
The Manitoba Wildfire Service advises that due to high wildfire danger levels, Level 2 travel restrictions are now in effect across the southwest and eastern regions of the province.
