Nagaland: Healthcare workers in Phek trained on oral health management

Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): The National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Phek, conducted a one-day orientation on oral health and managing dental emergencies for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Community Health Officers (CHO) under Phek Sadar on October 14 at Dr. Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital, Phek. An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek, stated that Dr. Nichukholie Vupru, senior dental surgeon at District Hospital, Phek, and resource person, imparted on the importance of oral health and its influence on other parts of the body for overall health. It stated that Dr. Vupru also spoke on basic oral healthcare methods and healthy food habits as well as awareness on prevention of common oral health problems. World Mental Health Day observed across Nagaland

Dimapur, Oct. 10 (EMN): World Mental Health Day (WMHD) was observed across the state on Monday on the theme ‘Make mental health & well-being for all a global priority.’ Kohima: The district mental health programme (DMHP) Kohima observed World Mental Health Day to commemorate the significance of the day. An update informed that Dr. Nuvotso Khesoh, senior psychiatrist and nodal officer of DMHP, Kohima, highlighted on important mental health issues, causes, stigma-related issues and treatment. Managing Director, NHAK, Dr. Vibeituonuo Mepfuo, in her address said that health is not only about physical well-being but also mental well-being, which is why holistic approach should be adopted in terms of treatment. Orientation for healthcare workers conducted in Phek

Dimapur, Sep. 25 (EMN): Orientation training on vitamin A and Albendazole was conducted at Dr. Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital Phek, on September 21 and 22. An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Phek stated that the training programme was organised by ‘Vitamin Angels,’ an international NGO working for over 25 years to address the global public-health problem of under nutrition. The CMO of Phek, Dr. Khriezotuo Paphino, in his keynote address, appreciated the Vitamin Angels for organising such training for healthcare workers, which aims at providing healthy life to mothers and children in far-flung areas. He urged the healthcare workers to be attentive, responsive and learn from the training. Nagaland celebrates Ayushman Bharat Diwas

Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Several districts in Nagaland celebrated Ayushman Bharat Diwas on September 23. The day was celebrated to mark the 4th anniversary of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY) and one year anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). AB-PMJAY is a government of India flagship health insurance scheme to ensure no one suffers financial hardships or impoverishment due to medical expenditure for hospitalisations or are unable to access medical care on account of unaffordability. It also aimed at accelerating India’s progress towards universal health coverage and provides health insurance coverage to over 10 crore families in India and 2.33 lakh families in Nagaland. Nagaland observes 'World No Tobacco Day' to eradicate chronic diseases
