Charter schools get injunction extended until next date in BPS court case

Enterprise, Westminster charter schools fight closure in court

The Buffalo School Board may have ordered Enterprise and Westminster Community charter schools to close, but the two are fighting back in court. This is an unusual situation, since the two schools were chartered by the school board, not by Albany. They are the only two of the state s 351 public charter schools slated for closure. Credit Westminster Community Charter School / Facebook Saying Enterprise and Westminister were lower in achievement than public city schools, board members voted March 31 to close, effective at the end of this school year. Although, Westminster students might stay in that building because the city owns it.

Ringing down the curtain after 55 years

Ringing down the curtain after 55 years Daily Pilot and TimesOC theater writer Tom Titus is retiring after 55 years of reviewing Orange County theater. (vitaliy melnik - stock.adobe.com) Print Parting, as Billy Shakespeare once quoth, is such sweet sorrow. And that pretty much sums up my feelings as I contemplate retirement after 55 years of reviewing local theater for the Daily Pilot and TimesOC. It’s been a terrific ride for this dyed-in-the-wool theater junkie. And that includes 40 years as a participant acting and directing for local playhouses, highlighted by 31 years as artistic director of the Irvine Community Theater. Tom Titus stands in the Segerstrom stage at South Coast Repertory, where he reviewed every single show for the Daily Pilot and TimesOC since the theater opened in 1964.
