With some Oregon public universities officially passing freshman application deadlines, two of the state’s largest institutions are reporting an increase in applicants for the upcoming fall term.
The University of Oregon has received a record number of freshman applications for this upcoming fall term. UO said Monday nearly 33,000 students had applied for fall 2021 admission.
This comes after the COVID-19 pandemic caused an enrollment decline at most of Oregon’s public universities last fall. UO saw about 800 fewer total enrolled students last fall compared to fall 2019, according to data from Oregon’s Higher Education Coordinating Commission.

CSU Summer Session 2021 will be more affordable and flexible for undergraduates 08 Feb, 2021
Summer session plays an important role in supporting the Colorado State University journey for students with an affordable option to stay on track, catch up, or get ahead on credits. For 2021, CSU is expanding this opportunity for low-income students and non-residents, thanks to the support of Provost Mary Pedersen.
An analysis of Summer Enrollment and Student Success by CSU Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness has increased the University’s understanding of how engagement in summer session can contribute to students’ success. As students are facing unprecedented challenges, CSU has made a commitment to making summer courses more accessible, affordable and flexible for undergraduates, according to CSU Summer leadership.

Starting in Fall 2021, Oregon State University will begin to offer an additional scholarship opportunity, the Western Undergraduate Exchange scholarship, to first-year and transfer students of the Corvallis and Bend campuses.
While the university currently offers a range of scholarships for both resident and non-resident OSU undergraduates, newly-admitted students will now be able to get a WUE scholarship next school year.
OSU began to explore the idea of participating in the Western Undergraduate Exchange last spring. This decision was made because this program is very popular and well-known throughout the western states..Â
WUE will not be replacing any existing scholarship programs, as it will be offered along with those other awards. There are hopes that prospective students who are not already familiar with OSU will take a closer look at the university when they see that this program is being offered.
