WOCAP to offer financial management classes
WOCAP Financial Management Program: 4-6 p.m., West Ohio Community Action Partnership central office, 540 S. Central Ave., Lima. Free.
LIMA West Ohio Community Action Partnership will hold a financial management program from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, Wednesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 24, at WOCAP’s central office, 540 S. Central Ave., Lima. The class will also be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 27, Wednesday, July 28, and Thursday, July 29. Classes will cover credit scores and credit repair, personal finances and budgeting skills.
To register, visit www.wocap.org or call the housing department at 419-227-2586. There is no fee to attend.

Head Start applications still available
LIMA Families interested in enrolling their children in Head Start, Early Head Start or Child Care Partnerships for the 2020-21 program year may still do so.

Homelessness issues ramped up in region, Lima Housing Task Force learns

LIMA The Lima Housing Task Force took up the issue of homelessness and housing instability at its monthly meeting Tuesday.
Meeting virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the task force heard a discussion by Tammie Colon with the Mental Health Recovery Services Board, Hellen Douglas from Family Promise, Jackie Fox from West Ohio Community Action Partnership and Russ Thomas from Connected Hope.
“We have been working with lots of partners for the past 10 years, and we’ve done a pretty good job of meeting the needs of clients in a very small way,” Fox said. “We do know how to end homelessness. We need affordable housing where you only spend 30% of your income on housing, and we need adequate income.”
