Recipients are all local culinary students who are continuing their education at Hawai‘i Community College-Pālamanui. They include Trinity Tavares, Exon Pimentero, Nina Stuart, Minnie Pira, Shanley Tabios and Mallory Javillonar.
The property includes the coastal regions of six ahupua‘a (historic land divisions), provides habitat for threatened or endangered native Hawaiian plants and animals and is a rare space for Hawaiian cultural practice.
Over 600 students attended from schools across West Hawai‘i, including Kohala High School, Konawaena High School, West Hawai‘i Explorations Academy, Ke Kula O Ehunuikaimalino and Honoka‘a High School.
