Mamata to contest from Nandigram in West Bengal Assembly polls ANI | Updated: Jan 18, 2021 14:44 IST Nandigram (West Bengal) [India], January 18 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced that she will contest from Nandigram Assembly seat in the state election that is due in just a few months. I will contest from Nandigram Assembly. If possible I will contest from both Bhawanipur and Nandigram, she said while addressing a rally here. Suvendu Adhikari, who recently switched to BJP from Banerjee s party, won the Nandigram seat as the TMC candidate in 2016. Traditionally, Banerjee has always contested from Bhawanipur.

West Bengal: Another MLA, minority cell general secretary quit TMC, fourth leaders to exit party

Updated Dec 18, 2020 · 06:02 pm Trinamool Congress MLA Silbhadra Dutta and the party’s minority cell general secretary Kabirul Islam on Friday resigned from their posts, reported NDTV. With these resignations, four politicians have quit from the party’s positions within a span of two days. On Thursday, former West Bengal minister Suvendu Adhikari and MLA Jitendra Tiwari had quit ahead of the state Assembly elections next year. Five local TMC leaders in the Malda district also tendered their resignations on the same day. Many of the rebel leaders are expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He is scheduled to visit the state on Saturday.
