Updated: 3:09 PM EDT May 14, 2021 Some buildings in downtown Baltimore were evacuated Friday afternoon amid a strong odor of gas, the fire department said.City fire officials said crews were called to the 400 block of West Baltimore Street for a strong odor of gas.Baltimore Gas and Electric crews shut off the gas and electric service in the area.There were no reported injuries.The University of Maryland Medical Center said the incident is impacting streets near its campus, including Greene, Baltimore, Redwood and Paca streets.The building housing the Redwood Pharmacy has been evacuated, UMMC said.University of Maryland, Baltimore, police said there are no current evacuations from UMB buildings.This report will be updated.
