NORTH West Education MEC Wendy Matsemela has imposed a five-year ban on school trips on Rethusegile Secondary School.
She announced this while addressing teachers, pupils and residents in Lethabong, outside Rustenburg in North West.
She was speaking at the memorial service for three boys who died in a taxi crash while travelling home from a matric dance on Friday 11 December.
Amogelang Diphoko (20), Tshepiso Moagi (20) and Ikageng Nkosi (20) were among 42 pupils involved in the accident.
Matsemela said only educational trips as well as travels for music and athletics would be allowed by the department.
“As teachers, we need to learn that we are parents and we need to also learn to say no.
