ADRIAN An Adrian mother of two was on the receiving end of a home dedication and Faith Build ribbon-cutting Sunday.
Emily Newell, along with her children Tegan, 12, and Elijah, 8, were officially welcomed home Sunday to their newly constructed East Maple Avenue home, sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County. The ribbon-cutting event, while normally open to the entire community, was scaled back in attendance because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The site of the Faith Build home officially broke ground during an August 2020 ceremony, according to Habitat for Humanity construction manager Doug Straub. The nearly completed residence was celebrated with Sunday’s ribbon-cutting.

MADISON TWP Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County celebrated the expansion of its ReStore and the move of its offices with a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday.
The organization last fall began the process of moving its offices to the same building as the ReStore at 1025 U.S. 223 in Madison Township. Space next to the store became available to rent, allowing the nonprofit organization to consolidate its operations and expand the store.
The ReStore is Habitat s main source of revenue. The store specializes in used and donated furniture. The expansion gives it about 20,000 square feet of retail space. A portion of the new space will be for Habitat’s construction department, Habitat executive director Wendy Knox said last year.

Taking inspiration from Streisand’s coffee table book
My Passion for Design, playwright Jonathan Tolins playfully scrutinizes the zany implications of Streisand’s underground shopping center in this uproarious one-man show,
Buyer & Cellar. The show opens with a disclaimer: the only thing that is true about the show is that Streisand does indeed have a shopping mall in the basement of her Malibu home, complete with an immaculate curation of shops including an antique clothing store, a doll storeroom, and a sweets shop. Other than that, the show is a complete work of fiction.
