Sign Up A pulsating task filmed on an oil rig in the Highlands for a hardcore reality TV series will hit the small screen soon. Channel 4 TV series “SAS: Who Dares Wins” shot part of an episode last summer on the Well-Safe Guardian rig, currently berthed in Cromarty Firth. On the show, tough guys put civilian contestants through punishing military training exercises to test their physical and mental strength. The rig task involved an intense 100ft abseil off Well-Safe Guardian oil rig, which is owned by Aberdeen-headquartered decommissioning firm Well-Safe Solutions.

Aberdeen-based dive systems specialist Orca Oceanic Systems has set up a new operations facility at the site following a six-figure contract win. The yard has lain empty since Bifab went into administration last year. In February, BiFab s sites at Methil in Fife and Arnish on Lewis were taken on by London-based firm InfraStrata. The Burntisland yard was not included in the deal.

A new operations facility has been established at the Fife yard, which has been empty since BiFab entered into administration in 2020. Aberdeen-based Orca Oceanic Systems, a subsea services company, has set up shop in the yard – which is owned by Forth Ports. Energy Voice reports that the company has already begun work at the site for Well-Safe, which provides decommissioning services for on and offshore wells.
