Based on new data from ATTOM s Q3 2023 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, there were a total of 124,539 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings default notices, scheduled auctions or bank repossessions up 28 percent from the previous quarter and 34 percent from a year ago.

U.S. Homeowner Equity Decrease by $287 Billion Over the Last 12 Month

U.S. homeowners with mortgages (which account for roughly 63% of all properties) saw home equity decrease by 1.7% year over year, representing a collective loss of $287.6 billion, and an average loss of $8,300 per borrower since the second quarter of 2022.
