good morning, everyone. and welcome to way too early on this wednesday, august 23rd. i m eamon mohyeldin in for jonathan lemire. trump reportedly had his lawyers negotiate for him to turn himself in during prime time television hours. as the guardian reports trump wanted to maximize television ratings for his benefit for his surrender to the authorities in atlanta and could extend the coverage of the proceedings by speaking afterwards in front of cameras and reporters. this, of course, is trump s fourth indictment in as many months. in each he s worked to turn appearances into spectacles and quote, in an effort to discourage the indictments. the booking process in fulton county typically includes a mug shot, fingerprinting and taking
full page by page analysis of it on this program. but the flow of news about this indictment will not yet allow us to slow down and turn each page of this indictment for you, and so we will continue to be quoting it selectively. i will always be struggling to find the right perspective on this indictment and the stories around it. but i just want to acknowledge at the outset this evening that history is now moving too fast for a mere news program to be able to hold it in place for an hour. tonight, a federal judge in atlanta responded in less than 24 hours to defendant mark meadows s motion to move fulton county district attorney fani willis s criminal case against him from the fulton county courthouse to federal court. donald trump and other defendants are expected to make similar motions. the federal judge, steven si jones, appointed by president obama, ordered a hearing on that question in his federal courtroom in atlanta a week from monday, on august 28th, at 10 am. the judge gave
guys and having a chance to judge them on how they perform. keep this in mind. the republican electorate is in three buckets, right? a quarter of the electorate would won t support trump no matter what. a quarter of the electorate who are hard maga who are only considering trump. polls show 50% of voters in the republican party are considering trump, considering other candidates. 75% of the electorate is up for grabs. can somebody else persuade them they re the right candidate to push trump out? dana: it is going to be a wild few months until we get to the iowa caucuses and it was fun to have alexis mcadams there. she did a great job meeting all the folks on the ground. thank you, marc. thank you. dana: as we ve mentioned a little more than one week from now fox news channel hosts the first republican debate at 9:00 p.m. eastern. next wednesday august 23rd from milwaukee and we ll be there.
