now that we have the universe of our questions and our concern and the stakes, let s go to the beginning of how does this work. we have a weapons expert who has worked on many films. and he ll take us through what the possibilities are here. he is firearm trainer bill davis. thank you for taking this opportunity, sir. you re welcome, chris, thank you. so bill, literally, assume the people you re talking to, starting with me, know nothing, and this sounds completely wild, that how does a movie gun hurt somebody? what are the possibilities in your mind about what could have gone wrong here? well, first of all, i m hearing a lot on the news, different news outlets, that we re talking about movie guns, prop guns. there is no prop guns. these are real, live firearms that are being used to fire blanks.
camera? that would be a logical possibility given that the cinematographer was killed. but we just don t know. i think unfortunately in an environment like this, where there s a void of information, that s where rumor and speculation and innuendo end of filling. so the sooner that authorities can give us more details the better. yeah. so true. there are very strict guidelines and protocols for weapons on any set. i heard one expert this morning say that a weapons expert who s worked on multiple movies say he had no idea this was possible unless the gun was, like, one foot away from the camera and, you know, the cinematographer, they would both be near the camera, which he says was highly unlikely that they would set it up that way. what does a prop gun include? what should people know about this? well, so there s really a lot of protocols when it comes to even dealing with fake firearms on set. the prop master is typically in
list that was known. these things have come out so that s a behavioral issue that needed to be resolved a long time ago. what happened was he continued along that behavioral continuum to the point that he transcended into physical harm. same thing with this online rhetoric that we saw in el paso. again, we need to get ahead of that. so i think that hopefully is what the president was talking about. but it s the question comes who s the steward of that? what s the governance over that? who s going to provide that oversight in terms of mental health care. law enforcement, the community, it s a shared fate. you ve heard me say this time and time again. we all need to come together and develop a very systematic plan that has components of it. gun control is also part of that. the police chief is right, these weapons, the capacity should not have been for civilian use. so all of this stuff has to come together. there s not one solution that will solve this. david, on that point, i just
appears to be an assault rifle. he s not a weapons expert. he doesn t know much about it. he said that several times to the police that interviewed him so far. but he said he was wearing a green shirt, had a gray bandana around his neck, and a ball cap. and that s all he remembered. we saw people with blood on shirts. i don t think any of us saw actual victims. we were escorted away very quickly. it s a large scale event. and you know, we probably walked half a mile to one point we thought we would be escorted back to get our equipment. and then they told us no. they re going to secure this down, lock this down for 24 hours. and then they moved us out to a high school, put us on some buses, and then took us over to the college.
venue and you have even more confusion and more access to mass casualty. rob: when you hear the description of these young ladies describing what they heard as far as gunfire, i am not a weapons expert but does it sound to you like a semi automatic rifle like an ar 15? i don t know whether it is a rifle or pistol, but by the number of casualties and shots it is probably a semi automatic weapon. semi automatic pistol or rifle. doesn t really matter, the number of rounds that would be fired would be about the same. jillian: we have been through this so many times we have to ask what our police doing right now? they will go to the suspect s home. what can you tell us as far as the investigation.
