The coroner's office has identified two teenage women who were shot and killed in a vehicle by a gunman in Waukegan as the mayor denounces an "epidemic of gun violence."
A SWAT team was called Thursday to arrest a second suspect wanted after being charged with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man at an apartment building in Waukegan.
One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning, officials said. Police responded around 2:30 a.m. to crash near North Sheridan Road and West Glen Flora Avenue and found a 1999 GMC SUV engulfed in fire. A witness told police there was someone inside but, due to the extent of the fire, officers couldn t get the person out, according to a news release from the Waukegan Police Department.
The alleged gunman accused of shooting his wife and another man, seriously injuring them, in a Waukegan packaging plant parking lot has been captured in New Mexico.
