Myanmar migrant workers and monks have volunteered to help relieve pressure on Thai public health workers in Samut Sakhon an epicentre of the new wave of Covid-19 in Thailand.
It is not an easy task to fight the pandemic among migrant workers who barely understand Thai. The language barrier can hinder care for the infected while preventing others from learning how to avoid infection.

Following the rise in Covid-19 cases, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is setting up a field hospital in the compound of Bang Khunthian Geriatric Hospital with 500-600 beds to treat infected people.
Located in the Bang Khunthian area on the outskirts of Bangkok, a section of the newly built hospital will be used to accommodate the asymptomatic infected or those with mild symptoms.

The government is looking for locations for field hospitals in more provinces, in preparation for more coronavirus-infected patients if the surge in new transmissions continues.
Taweesilp Visanuyothin, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration spokesman, said on Wednesday that senior officials at the Public Health Ministry and provincial offices were surveying areas as far out as Ubon Ratchathani, looking for suitable sites for field hospitals.
