meteorologist chad myers monitoring tropical storm debby, chad, debby s proven to be pretty stubborn. not moving really at 5 miles an hour. and it s still spinning at 40 miles an hour. so don t get me wrong, it s still there, but it s not moving along, so when it begins to rain in one spot, it rains for hours. in fact one spot in tallahassee picked up 20 meninches of rain. it s still flooding right now. we re still trying to get crews into these areas to see how bad it is. east of panama city, near the panhandle of florida, but not all the way to jacksonville. this is the latest, the 11:00 advisory, east at 3 miles an hour. it doesn t even make landfall until 8:00 tomorrow morning and it s only about 60 miles away from shore. it s going to take a long time to get across the body here of florida, then back out into the ocean and then eventually turning on up into the northeast. and when it gets out here, these are spinning again, because it turns into a tropical storm again,
another 8 inches of rain today. tropical storm debby is forcing more evacuations, rescues and road closures. just last hour, officials in pasco county, florida, ordered the evacuation of 2,000 homes because of a fast rising river. 38 people were rescued from their homes overnight. i was kind of panicking because the water came up over the wall where i live. if you re looking to sell your home, you may get a little more for it than just a few months ago. home prices, they have now risen for the first time in seven months. they were up about 1.3%. some cities did better than others. phoenix prices have gone up more than 8%. still, prices are down 34% compared to just six years ago. now, to chicago, where a 13-year-old boy died in his mother s arms after being fatally shot at a party. more deadly violence in the city endures every single day. we ve been following this story. others are following it, too. the new york times is reporting homicides in chicago are up 38% fro

and levies and flood control structures. i want to remind folks as you get that much rain and tidal surges you have other water ways that empty out in the lake pontchartrain area because of the backlog and saturation you could see some spot flooding in areas in the florida parishes as well. there may be tributaries and other areas with backlogs you could have some issues on the north shores as well. we re expected to see rainfall tuesday maybe even through tuesday night. south and southeast louisiana are expected to get the most rainfall. we re also the weather center is expecting low lying areas that can experience back water flooding to also see rising water levels. it is very important. i know they ve done a trajectory that shows the storm in making a right ward turn. a lot of that information is very, very preliminary. there s not a lot of certainty because it does not have a well defined center.
