The architect was Benjamin Henry latrobe. Not only did he design this church, he was working on rebuilding the white house after it was destroyed by the british in the war of 1812, and in 1818 he built Decatur House which is now the home of the White House Historical association and if you go inside the Decatur House and you look up, you see a very similar entrance. It is almost like a miniature of this dome that we have in our church space and the Original Church was built as a greek cross.
