Clubs in the Nigeria National League are unsure if the 2020/21 season will start at the weekend as directed by the Nigeria Football Federation.
The NFF had after its congress in Abeokuta December 28, 2020, approved that the new NNL season starts on Saturday, while the Nigeria Nationwide League One was approved to start February 10.
But speaking with our correspondent on Wednesday, the NNL clubs said the draws for the new season would only be made on Friday, making it impossible for the league to commence the next day.
Acting General Manager of Crown FC, Oyeleye Oyekunle said, “We are just going to hold the AGM of the league at Abakaliki this weekend, so, hopefully, January 25 we should kick off. But it is still subject to ratification at the meeting, that is where we are also going to ratify the approved draws. As soon as the fixtures are out, the league is as good as kicking off.”
