Nelson Marlborough Health chief medical officer Dr Nick Baker says hospitals are restricting visits to children’s wards, maternity wards and special care baby unit. Nelson Hospital reported 102 cases presenting to the emergency department and 20 admissions. Dr Baker said the top of the south was “certainly seeing a surge in respiratory disease” among children.
