ready for this, video games. video game playing over low wage employment. they found in 2015 more than one-fifth of lower skilled men, i m going to say dudes in this case, between the ages of 21 and 30 did not work at all for a full year and spent most of their leisure time playing video games. the economists claim the value of leisure time goes up as advances are made in video gaming technology, so some young men are choosing video games over working lower wage jobs. can you believe that? no. can t believe that at all. in all sincerity, though, think about this one. this isn t even my gameboy, i borrowed it. yeah, that s a little bit crazy. i was a video game playing kid when i was a kid. it was a thing that you go through. it is a little odd that that is going into people s working loifz. to my sons, i don t want you playing video games. i want you to study harder and i don t want you living in my basement when you re 26. lastly, we use this space to

so low wage employment is moving the dime forward. low wage employment. because as sot said the household income went down 14%. i think it is a perfect story for the country to pay attention to. because we ve got conflicting political philosophies on how to create jobs. one state has done it. another state has not. but i guess scott walker overpromised. no but i do think he overpromised what he wanted to do and what he needed to do quite frankly when it came to job creation there. but look the people who have lived under thesis policye policies have elected scott walker three times. trues are he has. there is no question about that. but that doesn t make him correct, okay on the issues and it doesn t suffice the record that he is unable to achieve. the majority of people in wisconsin who vote apparently think he s been correct and they happen to like their economy or i don t think they would keep sending him back to office.

and when you raise the price of employment, guess what happens. you get less of it. that has been the argument since the dawn of time. you can t have a minimum wage. you certainly can t raise the minimum wage. because that will mean employers will higher fewer people. unemployment will go up. you will cost people their jobs. it s always the same argument. but here s the thing. we can check to see if that argument works. because we ve done this before a zillion times. at various times we have both established a minimum wage and raised the minimum wage in states like florida, colorado, ohio, missouri, alaska, kansas, just about anywhere in the country. when it happens federally we can compare before and after and when it happens between states we can compare what happens. this isn t a hypothetical question. we can look at the cause and effect of these policies. this is empirical. this is knowable. and here s what we know. raising the minimum wage has little to no effect on low wage emp

little to no effect on low wage employment. it s an empirical thing. you can check it. one study done in the mid 90s right after minimum wage increases in missouri and pennsylvania this is considered to be the gold standard in this field of empirical research, resulted in this. the results seem to contradict the standard prediction that a rise in the minimum wage will reduce unemployment. another big study done about ten years found the same thing. the dotted line on this chart is employment growth, in other words, finding new jobs in the states where the minimum wage was aboston federal level. in other words, states where they had increased the minimum wage. you see the relationship between those two? you see how it s keeping one all the other states? right. exactly. and last week the center for economic and policy research published what was essentially a study of studies, a meta-analysis of the body of work that is out there, studies of the connection between minimum wage increases
