i think the important part of what the president and vice president did today is, yes, they re fiery, passionate, but they called folks to the carpet and they applied pressure and that is what is needed going into this weekend where it is expected that a vote is going to happen. i ve texted with senators, i ve asked, what is going on? are we going to get a vote? they have told me a vote is coming and people, united states senators, need to go on the record. the question really is, in my opinion, nicole, what happens after monday? what happens after the question has been called, people are on the record, and let s just say the vote doesn t pass. what are activists and advocates and organizations looking for from the president and vice president? what kind of pressure will be applied there? not just on democrats but on republicans, because this isn t an issue. our democracy isn t a partisan issue. it s an american issue. it s just crazy to me that this has become a partisan game. well,
together, this specific deal, what happens next? so the negotiation is still ongoing, but the party at the heart of this is confident it will go through by midnight. at that point they will then go to the israeli president, who s a figure head in the government. he does not have executive power, but basically tell him, yeah, we have enough support to form a government. at that point a date is set for a vote of confidence in the israeli parliament. it is a simple majority. if that vote passes, and it could be as early as next wednesday or as late as the following monday, if that vote passes, the new government is sworn in and israel has a new prime minister. so that could happen as early as wednesday of next week if this goes through. if the vote doesn t pass, then the most likely scenario is that israel will be headed to another
credibility with republicans, perhaps he would haven t to worry about it or it wouldn t be such a big issue. but, chris, you re right, this is a paul ryan issue. he s the one while gating aid from the white house, he s the one who needs to do it. there s a good chance tomorrow night we are going to see a vote that could last hours upon hours as they re trying to get republicans to stay. so you re saying this is ryan s responsibility. if this vote doesn t pass, donald trump won t be blamed, paul ryan will? i think paul ryan is going to be blamed certainly within washington, d.c. but i do think this is a major loss for donald trump, somebody who predicted it was going to get through and even went so far as to threaten republican members as you said earlier in the show that a if they don t vote for the bill he s going to come after him and i believe donald trump is going to go after republicans who don t vote for this bill. it s interesting. in the beginning there was all
