In his honor, check out Adam being honored with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award at the MusiCares MAP Fund concert in New York City in 2017 for his work with the charity, which helps musicians with addiction recovery. Remembering Vinnie Paul Abbott, born on this day in 1964. When it comes to DFW rock royalty, they didn t come any bigger than Vinnie. Not just a drummer, but also a producer and co-founder of Pantera, Damageplan, and HELLYEAH! I had the pleasure of meeting Vinnie numerous times, whether at the radio station or at Dallas Stars games, and he always had a smile and a story. Sadly, we lost him on June 22, 2018, at his Las Vegas home, dead at the age of 54 from a dilated cardiomyopathy and coronary artery disease.
