good morning, from new york city. welcome to a special edition of your cnn sunday morning on this september 11th, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. hello to you all. i m t.j. holmes this morning coming to you from a spot overlooking ground zero. we ll have a lot more for you from here and this morning soledad o brien will be joining me throughout the morning. she s at riverside park on the upper west side of manhattan. that is where firefighters are gathering to pay tribute to their fellow firefighters who died in the attacks. we check in with her in just a bit. also, as always, on this sunday morning we d like to say a special good morning to our service men and women watching us right now on the american forces network. thank you for being here, thank you for what you do and certainly on this day, a day that really changed the course of many of your lives. today we are going to remember the victims of 9/11. of course, in new york, washington and pennsylvania.

morning. i m t.j. holmes. we are standing by for one of a number of events that will take place this weekend to remember the victims of 9/11. this is in washington, d.c. where we re expecting to see president george w. bush come out and lay a wreath at the pentagon. he will do this there at a stone. it s essentially the impact point where that plane hit the pentagon ten years ago tomorrow. the president not expected to make remarks, not expected an audience there for it. but we will bring it to you as it happens. we re keeping an eye on what is happening in new york city. take a look this morning. a close shot of one of two of the twin reflecting pools. these huge pools are now sitting where the twin towers once stood. the footprints of the towers. this is the memorial, 9/11 memorial, the official memorial will open on monday to the public, but it will be dedicated tomorrow on the ten-year anniversary of the september 11th attacks. as the nation gets ready to pause and reme

drought-stricken texas where strong winds from tropical storm lee are kicking up several major wildfires. you see them here. this is south of austin, texas. crews are scrambling to knock down flames as soon as they pop up. 1,000 homes are at risk, in the line of fire. the situation has been getting worse. fire officials can t tell us how many evacuations they have or any damage assessments as of yet. we ll have more ahead on the fires including a live report from the scene and also a man who may lose his home to this fire. first we want to bring you up to date on the enormous amounts of rain tropical storm lee is dumping on louisiana and also mississippi. this was tropical storm lee tearing through the gulf this weekend. this is an oil rig and the workers there, you see them leaning into the wind holding on for dear life just to find out how fast the wind is blowing. they found out fast. on land, lee has been a flood maker. parts of louisiana have gotten a foot of rain or mor
