Around 2:30 a.m., officers were called to a report of an injury traffic wreck at the intersection of Mooney Boulevard and Walnut Avenue. The intersection is the most traveled in the county and is near the Visalia Mall and popular In-N-Out, both of which were closed.
Two vehicles a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and a Honda Pilot SUV collided at the intersection.
Investigating officers said the driver of the Honda was westbound Walnut and drove through a red light at Mooney. The SUV broadsided the Chevrolet, which was southbound on Mooney.
Visalia teen accused of attempted robbery tries to escape arrest
A Visalia teenager accused of trying to rob someone nearly escaped arrest but was found by police.
The incident was reported around 3:20 p.m. Friday, according to Visalia detectives. Patrol officers were called to the Visalia Mall, on South Mooney Boulevard for reports that a teenager was armed with a knife.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim. He told officers he was approached by the suspect, who threatened him with two knives. During the confrontation, the 16-year-old boy demanded the man hand over his property and then lunged at him, Agent Michael Lombardo said.
