DIE!namite #5 Review

What They Say: It all comes to do this! Our motley band of heroes from across space and time has made a final stand in an isolated monastery high in the Himalayan mountains against the zombie plague sweeping the multiverse…as the secret hand behind the zombie plague at last reveals itself! But is it too late the worlds of Dynamite from an unstoppable wave of undead? Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers): The main Dienamite series draws to a close and while I had hoped for closure it’s just going to shift gears into Dienamite Lives next. Fred Van Lente has rolled with the changes of the series fairly well but it’s stuck mostly just to action sequences separate from anything else. That changes here as the bigger pieces are revealed which helps to set up what’s next. The artwork on the book continue to be really solid with a good blending of very different characters into a world that feels cohesive while also applying different looks t

DIE!namite #4 Review

Colors: Kike J. Diaz What They Say: At last the heroes of Earth, Barsoom, Drakulon and Hyborea and have joined together for a last stand against the zombie plague on the roof of the world but it is the pandemic too out of control to stop, now that the hidden hand behind the apocalypse is finally revealed? Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers): The DIE!namite series has been fun in a very limited sense in that the story hasn’t done much for me and it’s mostly been just a lot of action material. The fun comes in the gorgeous artwork that we’ve gotten from Carratu and Qualano with great color design by Diaz. The character designs, the framing, the details, it’s just been fantastic throughout and it’s been easy to just enjoy the book on this level and only this level. Which I hate saying since the concept is one of easy potential but it just didn’t have much going from the start. With Fred Van Lente taking over halfway through it,

DIE!namite #3 Review

Colors: Kike J. Diaz What They Say: Vampirella arrives on Mars but it may be too late for her and Dejah Thoris to save Barsoom…Things go from bad to worse as Earth Project: Zombiepowers spreads the killer virus throughout the globe…and Red Sonja and her mysterious companion may have the key to solving the plague, but first they’ve got to past an army of zombie gorillas. Did we say zombie gorillas? Yes, we said zombie gorillas. Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers): I rarely have big expectations of crossover events because I’ve been around the block a few times but the DIE!namite series is just making me struggle with that even more. Because of outside issues to storytelling, Declan Shelvey jumped from the project, leaving Fred Van Lente to finish it out. Not that there was a lot of story going on at the moment as the first two issues and a good chunk of this just continues to show the various individuals and groups that are facing
