The main Dienamite series draws to a close and while I had hoped for closure it’s just going to shift gears into Dienamite Lives next. Fred Van Lente has rolled with the changes of the series fairly well but it’s stuck mostly just to action sequences separate from anything else. That changes here as the bigger pieces are revealed which helps to set up what’s next. The DIE!namite series has been fun in a very limited sense in that the story hasn’t done much for me and it’s mostly been just a lot of action material. The fun comes in the gorgeous artwork that we’ve gotten from Carratu and Qualano with great color design by Diaz. The character designs, the framing, the details, it’s just been fantastic throughout and it’s been easy to just enjoy the book on this level and only this level. Which I hate saying since the concept is one of easy potential but it just didn’t have much going from the start. With Fred Van Lente taking over halfway through it,

I rarely have big expectations of crossover events because I’ve been around the block a few times but the DIE!namite series is just making me struggle with that even more. Because of outside issues to storytelling, Declan Shelvey jumped from the project, leaving Fred Van Lente to finish it out. Not that there was a lot of story going on at the moment as the first two issues and a good chunk of this just continues to show the various individuals and groups that are facing
