Toronto will see several new faces on City Council this term, but it’ll be next to impossible to replace the more than 125 combined years of public service the city will be losing, says one political strategist.
For the first time in more than 20 years there will be no Ford on the municipal ballot in Etobicoke North. And the open race in the ward has drawn 16 candidates to the fray, including one veteran civic politician hoping to make a comeback to city council.
Not having a Ford on the municipal election ballot after 22 years has left some voters in Etobicoke North unsure about who to support in the Oct. 24 election, but others say it is chance to elect a representative who will be more receptive and responsive to the complex needs of the diverse ward.
