Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday said the governments at the State and Centre were working with scant regard to the woes of the common man the farmer, the worker and others.
At a time when the economic crisis has only deepened due to COVID-19 pandemic, the governments have ignored the common man who have been hit hard by the steep rise in the prices of essential commodities. People were fed up with governments and as such, the Congress had launched the Jana Dhwani Padayatra to lend support to their voice, Mr. Shivakumar said.

The ‘Janadhwani padayatra’ will cover 108 km in six days
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D.K. Shivakumar will participate in ‘Janadhwani padayatra’ of the party from Hejamady to Shiroor in Udupi district covering 108 km in six days from February 22.
It is to create awareness among people on the anti-people policies of the BJP-led government and to highlight the demerits of the recently passed farm laws of the Union government, according to Udupi District Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor.

Addressing presspersons in Udupi on Friday, he said the farm laws are against the interests of farmers. People are upset with the BJP-led government over increasing fuel prices, steel and cement, he said.

UDUPI: Congress is gearing up for ‘padayatra’ politics, this time to create public awareness about the farm laws that the union government has introduced. The padayatra spanning six days will commence at Hejamady on February 22 and end at Shiroor, the northern border of the district. Former chief minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president D K Shivakumar will undertake this padayatra with other local and state Congress leaders.
