The price of black tiger shrimp in the first months of the year dropped sharply, causing farmers to suffer heavy losses due to the lack of export orders.
The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported that tra (pangasius) exports brought in only US$83.6 million in January, down 44% month on month and down 61% from a year earlier.
Despite a downturn in the export of aquatic products in the first month of 2023, local exporters remain optimistic that the market will recover from the second quarter of this year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
