Akatsi South: NPP Executives sue three other executives for defamation, demand Gh₵500,000

MAR 9, 2021 Two New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executives have sued three colleague executives in the Akatsi South constituency of the Volta Region over alleged defamatory statements. Mr George Aho Yao, the Akatsi South Constituency Treasurer and Mr Ocloo Mawuli Egos, the Constituency Secretary have jointly sued Mr Patrick Xormeku Escu Agboyibor the Constituency Deputy Secretary, Mr Mensah Kadzaku the Constituency Youth Organizer and Madam Veronica Sakpaku, the Constituency Women Organizer at the Sogakope High Court. According to the plaintiffs, the defendants in a petition some few months ago asked President Akufo-Addo not to renominate Mr Leo Nelson Adzidoga as the Akatsi South Municipal Chief Executive in his next government.

Mr Adzidogah, who contested in the 2020 general election as a parliamentary candidate for Akatsi South, made the appeal in a statement in reaction to calls by the three aggrieved constituency executive members to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to re-nominate him as the MCE for the area. He said an investigative team would ascertain all the facts after the petitioners failed to use the laid-down structures of the party to address their grievances and chose to publicly address the issues.
