would yell her name because i was truly afraid she was dead. i kept promising i would not leave her. it s very unsettling. it s rike someone sitting down at this table and myself being able to live. and going down. not a matter of feet. five others strp also injured. all will survive. her classmates are still struggling to make sense of what happened half a world away. we never would have imagined anything like this could happen. like a close friend that you see every day. just doesn t ever cross your mind. emily could have left days before the bombing but chose to stay. she loved her work in africa. and those who know her say that speaks to her strong character. that s the most important thing is to continue to hope for the best. that s what we ve done and i think it s paying off. and there is no timetable for her return home. but folks here hope it is soon. we can tell you, though, she has some surgeries. one scheduled for tomorrow. and another scheduled for sun
