WINDSOR, ONT. A 33-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges including dangerous driving after allegedly attempting to speed away from police. Chatham-Kent police say around 9 p.m. Monday an officer on general patrol saw a car speeding down Grand Avenue West in Chatham. The driver turned onto St. Clair Street where the officer attempted a traffic stop, but the man continued driving through the Forest Street area and ran a stop sign. Police say the car eventually came to a stop behind a residence on Selkirk Street and the occupants fled the scene on foot. The driver was taken into custody and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and two cell phones. Police learned through investigation the man was currently under conditions to not possess more than one cell phone or drug paraphernalia.

WINDSOR, ONT. A 20-year-old Windsor man has been charged with impaired driving after a two-vehicle crash in Chatham. Chatham-Kent police were called to the collision at the intersection of McNaughton Avenue and Sandy Street around 9:30p.m. on Wednesday. Through investigation, police suspected that the driver at fault was driving while under the influence of alcohol. Officers say a roadside breath test was administered and the man failed. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests. The Windsor man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, being a novice driver while a blood alcohol concentration above zero and driving with alcohol readily available. He was released pending a future court date of Jan. 15, 2021.
