VAN WERT – After receiving several recent complaints from area school
bus drivers, the Van Wert City Police Department is reminding citizens
of school bus laws requiring drivers to stop for a stopped bus.
According
to law, all cars on a road with fewer than four lanes must stop for a
stopped school bus regardless of the direction the driver is traveling
in. Drivers should stop at least 10 feet from the stopped bus and remain

On Dec. 31, 2020, at 11:27 p.m. an unknown male rode a bicycle to the Pak-A-Sak north location. According to the police department the man parked his bike on the east side of the building and first checked the back door to see if it was unlocked. He then came around to the front and pried on the glass doors. The glass doors broke and the male left on his bike. Later, the male returned and entered the business grabbing cigarettes, scratch-off Lottery tickets, a flashlight, and Tylenol PM. He lef

Weaver is wanted in connection with a Van Wert County Common Pleas Court warrant on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the third degree. Local residents’ assistance is needed in locating Weaver.
Those with information on Weaver’s whereabouts can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 419.238.3866 or Crime Stoppers at 419.238.7867. Those who have information about Weaver will not have to give their name or reveal their identity. If the information helps to solve this case, Crime Stoppers will pay those providing the information up to $1,000.

On Dec. 4, 2020, a female wearing a
black jacket, blue jeans with a tattoo above her left eye and a male
wearing a grey colored Champion sweatshirt with black sweatpants
attempted to leave the Van Wert Walmart Supercenter with unpaid
merchandise.
Both left in a newer greenish colored vehicle.
