(WTXL) — The Valdosta Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 2400 block of Deborah Drive on Saturday. According to VFD, the call came in at 5:48 p.m., and fire crews arrived in less than four minutes, finding flames coming from the front of the home. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in less than two minutes, VFD said in a release. No injuries were reported, and VFD said the cause of the fire was unattended cooking.

(WTXL) — Officers with the Valdosta Police Department arrested a man early Tuesday morning after he allegedly called in a false bomb threat while live streaming on social media, according to a release from VPD. On Jan. 12 just before 4 a.m., VPD officers responded to the 1300 block of North St. Augustine Road after receiving a 911 call about a car in the parking lot containing a bomb, the release said. Upon arriving on the scene, officers saw Michael K. Heard, 25, using his cell phone and live streaming on a social media platform, VPD said.
