Atlantic City Council crafts a bulkhead mandate that lets people enjoy their waterfront views without having to take any responsibility for reducing flood risk from their property.
Atlantic City Council on Tuesday passed an ordinance 7-2 to require owners of vacant bayfront land without bulkheads to build them or face liens on their property.
City Council tabled a proposed ordinance to force private bayfront landowners to build bulkheads for flood control, at Mayor Marty Small Sr. s request Wednesday night.
Officials at Wednesday s CitiStat meeting said they could finish efforts to improve public safety if Atlantic City Electric would act on stalled projects.
