On December 23, 2023, The Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA) will take effect.[1] Utah will be the fourth state to enact legislation that comprehensively protects consumer rights.
Although all fifty states now have data breach notification statutes on the books, a smaller but growing number of states have adopted substantive data privacy laws.
Laying the groundwork now for responsible AI use will make data protection a foundational part of the process instead of a challenging bolt-on process down the line.
