(WFIE) - University of Southern Indiana Softball dropped a pair of one-run Great Lakes Valley Conference decisions to host McKendree University Saturday afternoon. The Screaming Eagles lost the opener, 5-4, before falling in game-two, 5-4, in eight innings. USI (5-14, 3-9 GLVC) rallied from early deficits to take the lead in both contests but was unable to hold onto its advantages as McKendree scored late in each game to extend its winning streak to nine games.

USI Volleyball Sweeps UIndy for Second time this Season d (Source: WFIE) By Aaron Hancock | April 3, 2021 at 11:05 PM CDT - Updated April 3 at 11:05 PM INDIANAPOLIS (WFIE) - University of Southern Indiana Volleyball claimed another regular season sweep of a GLVC-rival Saturday afternoon, beating the Greyhounds of Indianapolis in straight sets. With the win, the Screaming Eagles improve to 12-4 overall and two series sweeps this year.  The Eagles fought through three tough sets, including a 27-25 first set, to earn their seventh match sweep on the season. 25th-ranked USI out-performed U-Indy in all major categories en-route to victory, out-attacking the Hounds with 46 kills, 45 assists, and six aces and flying around the court defensively, totaling 71 digs and 10 total blocks. This is also the first time since 2005 the Screaming Eagles own a win streak against Indianapolis when they won three-straight matchups versus the Hounds.

USI Women’s Track Takes 1st; Men get 3rd, in KWC Twilight Invite By Aaron Hancock | April 3, 2021 at 10:43 PM CDT - Updated April 3 at 10:43 PM OWENSBORO, KY. (WFIE) - University of Southern Indiana’s Women’s Track & Field came away winners of the Kentucky Wesleyan Twilight Invitational with a team total of 149 points Friday evening. Freshman Kaylee Lane sprinted away from the field as she took first in the 100 meters in a time of 13.09 seconds. Freshman teammate, Katelyn Grell stayed near Lane to the line as she took second in 13.31. Another Freshman, Olivia Clark rounding out the scoring in the event crossing the line fourth giving the Screaming Eagles five additional points with a time of 13.46.

(WFIE) - University of Southern Indiana Men’s Soccer picked up its first victory of the year with a 1-0 win over the University of Illinois Springfield Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Illinois. The Screaming Eagles has a 1-2-0 record at the end of today’s action, while Illinois Springfield goes to 1-1-2. With the win, USI Head Coach Mat Santoro becomes the program’s all-time leader in victories with 98. Santoro (98-83-21) breaks the tie with former USI Head Coach Tony Colavecchia (1988-95; 97-59-11).

USI volleyball splits a pair of matches in Missouri d (Source: WFIE) By Aaron Hancock | March 7, 2021 at 6:29 PM CST - Updated March 7 at 6:56 PM ROLLA, MO. (WFIE) - University of Southern Indiana Volleyball split its weekend set of matches at the Missouri S&T-hosted GLVC triangular. USI beat the hosting Miners in four sets, then dropped its second match of day to the seventh-ranked UMSL Tritons. The loss snaps an eight-game win streak for the Eagles. Against Missouri S&T: USI was led by junior Sidney Hegg who posted a career-high in kills and points with 16 and 16.0. Hegg finished with a hitting percentage of .500 on 26 total attacks and three digs. Abby Weber and Katherine Koch finished the four-set match with 11 kills and 12.0 points each. Casey Cepicky continued her path in the USI record books, moving into fifth place all-time in career assists following her 46-assist performance (season-high) against the Miners. She now has 2,526 in her career and passed Melanie Pund
